Who is Blocking Your Database - Simple Query

Simple Script to get Blocking Info in SQL Server Database:

select * from
(select spID, blocked, program_name, loginame from sys.sysprocesses (nolock) where blocked <> 0) locks,
(select spID, blocked, program_name, loginame from sys.sysprocesses (nolock)) allprocess
where locks.blocked = allprocess.spId

Also you may refer Microsoft articles for the same

The above articles also provides detailed blocking details:

Procedure run to check:

WHILE 1=1
BEGIN
EXEC tempdb.dbo.sp_blocker_pss08
-- Or for fast mode
-- EXEC master.dbo.sp_blocker_pss08 @fast=1
-- Or for latch mode
-- EXEC master.dbo.sp_blocker_pss08 @latch=1
WAITFOR DELAY '00:00:15'
END

Script to create the procedure from the above Microsoft website is:

/*
Note: This script is meant to have 3 creations of the same stored procedure and two of them will fail
with either 207 errors or a 2714 error.
*/

use tempdb
GO
